When you look at a giant squid and see how huge it is, your first inclination is to think that these animals must live to a very old age, because they are so huge. However, squids, octopuses, and cuttlefishes are known to be very, very fast growing animals and most of the species that we know about attain their full adult size within about a year.

Only recently have scientists been able to study the age of giant squid. The indications of this preliminary research are that these animals also are very, very fast growing. They might reach at least half-size or even full-size within about three years. So I believe that giant squid probably live to be somewhere between three and five years of age.
