A Virtual Tour of the NMNH: Navigational Tips

How to Navigate the Virtual Tour

This Virtual Tour of the National Museum of Natural History is divided into:
* Floors: The Museum has three floors--Ground Floor, First Floor, and Second Floor. Maps link to each floor's opening page. Large opening page maps are interactive. The "Floor Plans" buttons link to a page where the plans for the three floors can be printed out simultaneously.
* Exhibit Halls: Floors are divided into Exhibit Halls. " Preceding Hall" or "Next Hall" buttons go from one Exhibit Hall to another in the order the halls are listed in the Table of Contents.
* Individual Exhibits: Within Exhibit Halls are Individual Exhibits. Thumbnail pictures of these exhibits lead to Individual Exhibit pages. Navigate through the Exhibit Halls by clicking on the thumbnail pictures.

Use the Table of Contents to get to any location on the Tour. (A Table of Contents button appears on every page.) Printing out the Table of Contents page might be helpful before beginning the Tour.

At several places on the Tour there are buttons which link to other Smithsonian World Wide Web sites. There is a complete listing of links to these sites on the page entitled "NMNH Links."

Larger versions of many of the Tour pictures can be viewed by clicking on them.

In addition, buttons on every page allow you to go to: (A) the Virtual Tour Home Page, (B) the Information Desk, (C) the floor plans for downloading, (D) the NMNH Calendar of Events web page, and (E) the NMNH home page.
