House
Our homes and backyards make excellent insect habitats. What looks like a single
habitat for humans is, for insects, many different ones. No matter where we
look, we might find an entire insect ecosystem--from moths in the clothes to
cockroaches in the kitchen and beetles in the flour. Insects enter our homes
by hitching a ride on our clothes and bodies, our food and packages, the wood
for the fireplace, and even on our pets.
