Greek Athletics
This Greek jar was filled with wine or water. One of its painted figures is
an athlete holding a discus. On the back of the jar is an image of two men--possibly
an athlete and his coach--engaged in conversation. From 800 BC through AD 100,
Greek city states competed in athletic events upon which our own Olympics are
modeled.
