Naturalist Center

Be an investigator! This public, "hands-on" study center offers more than 30,000 natural history and anthropological specimens, as well as books, microscopes, measuring tools, and other equipment for study. Investigate earth sciences, life sciences, and anthropology. Illustration equipment is available to young scientists and artists, providing students with the chance to try the tools used by professionals. Students, teachers, collectors, artists--all are welcome! The Center is free, and open to visitors 10 years of age and older, Tuesday-Saturday, 10:30-4:00. School groups can make reservations by calling (800) 729-7725 or (202) 357-2077. The Center is temporarily located in Leesburg, Virginia, about 35 miles from the Museum.
