This Yap stone valuable is 2 m (6.9 ft) high and 18 cm (7 in) thick. For centuries,
these stones were quarried on the nearby island of Palau, towed to Yap by canoe
about 402 km (250 mi), and carried across land by bamboo pole. These objects
of value are still found along roads or near community buildings. This rai
honors the entrance to the new Museum Shops.
