A Virtual Tour of the NMNH: Human Evolution
Human Evolution Hall

Come face-to-face with the skulls of half a dozen of our human ancestors and examine some of their remarkable handiwork, much of it found in Africa, the birthplace of humankind. Here are stone tools used between two million and 25,000 years ago, prehistoric works of art, and the re-creation of a Neanderthal burial site. These treasures, however, tell only a fragment of the story of our human origins--a story which grows richer and more complex with every discovery. Museum curators are working on a new exhibit hall that will reflect the latest insights into our beginnings.
