Snowshoe Hare - North America - Far North

Snowshoe hare (Lepus americanus)
A compact body, small ears, and short legs help the snowshoe hare conserve heat. Long feet with furry soles and widespread toes help it hop across deep snow with less sinking, and during winter months, its snowy white coat provides camouflage from predators. In harsh weather, the snowshoe hare digs shallow dens in the snow.
