Beaver - North America - Temperate Forest

Beaver (Castor canadensis)
The second largest rodent in the world, the beaver is adapted to life in the water. Its flat tail provides balance on land and slaps warning signals in the water. Its webbed, rear feet propel it through the water. They also eat wood – their large incisors cut down trees and massive cheek teeth mash the tough wood.
