Squirrel Parka - More Info - Where From

Qanganaq / Man's ground squirrel parka. This parka is sewn from ground squirrel pelts, with strips of white ermine along the seams. Mink and white caribou fur are used on the chest and sleeves. The tassels are of dyed skin, sea otter fur, and red cloth; some are decorated with puffs of white ermine fur. The finest parkas were worn during the winter ceremonies, and presented by the host as gifts to honored guests.
