Shaman's Hat - More Info - Where From

This hat belonged to an Alaska Peninsula shaman. It was part of a set of clothing that included a belt with brown (grizzly) bear claws, a rattle, whistle, and bracelets. The front and back of the hat are painted skin stitched with caribou hair and colored thread. The side panels are white caribou skin and the band around the bottom is harbor seal. Patches of grizzly bear hair are tucked into the seams.
