Throwing Board - More Info

Nuqaq / Throwing board. Sea otter and seal hunters used throwing boards to send their darts (harpoons) farther and with more force. The hand grip, seen on the right in the top photograph, has a carved place for each finger. The design on the back of this nuqaq (bottom photo) shows the feet and tail of a sea otter.
