Angyaq / Boat. The angyaq was a large boat that could carry up to 30 people. It had a light, strong wooden frame made of many pieces that were lashed together with whale baleen. This allowed an angyaq to bend in rough water instead of breaking. As many as 20 seal skins were used to make the cover. The rounded front end of the boat (to the right in this photograph) helped to lift it over oncoming waves.
