Genetics Program
Carl E. McIntosh
I've been the Lab Manager at the National Museum of Natural History's Genetics Program since May of 1991. My areas of interests include phylogenetics and computational methods. I have participated in several projects focusing on systematic relationships, rates of molecular evolution, and biogeographical events of the Hawaiian honeycreepers (i.e. I'Iwi pictured). I think it is important to examine as many different types of data concurrently (i.e. morphological, molecular, behavior traits etc.) in order to understand the evolutionary history of a group of organisms.
I am studying computational methods useful in developing scientific software at George Mason's School of Computational Sciences. I wish to apply computational methods to molecular systematics or population genetics.
