Visitors to RACE: Are We So Different? will meet trained volunteers there to encourage dialogue and reflection, answer questions, and help visitors explore the exhibition. We hope you enjoy getting to know them.

Name: Laila Sanie
“I am Afghan, I am American, I am a painter, I am a quantum theorist, I am a student of religion, languages and life, and I am a human. As a student of life I want to learn about that which I do not understand or that which I would like to Better understand. Race is an issue that surrounds me in my endeavors as a musician, historian and young woman in America. Being a part of this exhibit as a facilitator will not only help me understand Race issues better but I hope that I will help others too. It is an honor for me to volunteer at the Smithsonian.”
