Volunteer Voices

Visitors to RACE: Are We So Different? will meet trained volunteers there to encourage dialogue and reflection, answer questions, and help visitors explore the exhibition. We hope you enjoy getting to know them.

Race exhibit Volunteer: Darius Salimi

Name: Darius Salimi

“Race has always played a part in my identity as I grew up as and Iranian-American in Sterling, Virginia, a racially diverse community. My identity has been a fluid and elusive thing at times and has been greatly influenced by issues of race, nationality and being a second-generation son of immigrants in America. As an anthropology graduate student at George Mason University, I have recently completed some research on religion, identity and affiliations among Iranian-Americans. I look forward to learning more as Facilitator this year.”
