Sea otter (Enhydra lutris)

Sea otter (Enhydra lutris) by Tom and Pat Leeson

Prince William Sound, Alaska, USA
by Tom and Pat Leeson, Vancouver, Washington, USA

"This sea otter pup had just recently started eating solid food, though it was still
unable to collect food on its own. The mother would leave her pup floating on the
surface while she dove deep down to the ocean bottom for clams and an occasional crab.
Often while she was searching the bottom for food, the pup would drift off with the tide.
Here she is grabbing him and getting ready to move him back to a location where
she can hunt for dinner."
