Gentoo penguin (Pygoscelis papua)

Gentoo penguin (Pygoscelis papua) by Cynthia Walpole

Neko Harbour, Antarctica
by Cynthia Walpole, Bonita Springs, Florida, USA

"These gentoos were jumping into the water as our ship carefully approached.
Some walked over to the side of the iceberg and eased themselves into the water.
Icebergs serve as a resting place for these penguins after they forage for krill,
which is the mainstay of their diet."
