LEAST TERN CHICK

Pearland, Texas, USA

by Mark B. Bartosik

Houston, Texas, USA

“The normal reaction of nesting birds is to attack predators. By lying on the ground, I was not seen as a threat and was allowed to remain close to the nest. There, I could observe normal behaviors. Patience paid off, as this two-day old chick explored the world around its nest and I got this shot.”

Canon EOS 20D; 500mm lens; digital capture.
