Be a part of the most stimulating natural history learning experience in Northern Virginia! If you are into hands-on, minds-on self-directed learning, you won't find a place to volunteer with more things to get your hands on than at the Naturalist Center. The Naturalist Center is the Museum's satellite education facility in Leesburg, Virginia. A public, hands-on, how-to research study center, the Naturalist Center provides the public with access to over 36,000 natural history objects, 6,000 books and scientific equipment.
What can you do at the Naturalist Center? Just about anything! In the Center's Main Study Gallery you can help visitors 10 or older find clues to solve their own natural history mysteries. Mingle with and guide younger guests and families in the Family Learning Center. Help students develop problem solving skills by assisting with school group programs (grades 5- university) or work with other docents to help care for the Center's resources. Whatever you choose to do, you'll learn something new every day!
For more information on volunteering, please call the Naturalist Center at 703-779-9712 or 1-800-729-7725, or email at natcentr@si.edu.
