**Update: The Forensic Anthropology Lab will be closed to the public February 6th through the 8th and reopen on Saturday, February 9th at 11 am. Written in Bone will also be closed to the public on February 6th and 7th.

The all new Forensic Anthropology Lab is part of the temporary exhibition Written in Bone.

In the Lab, visitors of all ages will learn that forensic science is far more mysterious and engaging than forensic fiction. They will use real human bones to identify and describe the gender and status of people from the past and draw conclusions about their lives. The focus of the Lab is to help visitors to use the tools and problem solving skills of forensic anthropology to collect and analyze data the way that forensic anthropologists do.

Open Hours

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1:00 -5:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 11:00-4:00 p.m.
