Dunite in Basaltic Lava This slab of black basalt contains rounded xenoliths of dunite, a rock composed entirely of green olivine crystals. Dunite accumulates in the deep interiors of Hawaiian volcanoes. Vigorous eruptions bring fragments to the surface.
