Resources for Teachers and Parents

Introduction

Welcome to the Seeds of Change Garden. This is an educational web site, created on the initiative of the Smithsonian Institution, which teaches about diversity and history by looking at the evolution of agriculture and cuisine throughout the world. It is designed so that it can be browsed for enjoyment and exploration, or to provide a basis for more in-depth classroom or home activities, for which support materials are included here.

For your child's or student's browsing, the site is presented in regular text. However, additional information for teachers and parents has been added to the web pages in the form of TEACHER/PARENT NOTES, which will show up throughout the web site as text blocks in a light blue color. These notes provide ideas for activities, explanations of difficult concepts you may need to help your students with, teaching suggestions, notes on how to get your hands on needed classroom materials, and so on.
