Nakunte
Diarra learned her craft from her grandmother and mother. Since the 1950s,
she has made her own mud-dyed cloth in Kolokani, Mali. Now the world comes
to Nakunte, seeking out her gifted creations. Nakunte draws on the rich
symbolism associated with mud cloth, juxtaposing old and new patterns
in unexpected ways.
