Amira Lépore is a medium of Umbanda who came to New York City from Brazil. Her spiritual gifts were recognized when at age four she foresaw the death of a neighbor. Amira’s principal helping spirit is José Pilintra, a physician in 19th century Brazil.

The songs and drumming are dedicated to the saints and it’s what brings the spirits. Because, the spirits like music.

When we are possessed and when we go away and then return to our normal state we know that we've helped many people.
