Biography:
Since May 2002, Associate Director for Operations, responsible for Museum-wide operations, including formulation and execution of federal and trust budgets, financial management policies and procedures, facilities operations and planning, building management, information technology systems and services, and human resources management.
Prior positions include Director, Policy and Strategic Planning and Counselor to the Under Secretary for Oceans and Atmosphere, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Department of Commerce from 1994-2201. At NOAA, led Agency-wide strategic planning efforts and policy development for $3.2 billion Federal agency that includes the National Weather Service, National Marine Fisheries Service and civil operational satellite service.
From 1980-1992, held several positions at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, including senior executive responsible for business management functions, including formulation and execution of a $500 million per year space technology and commercial program budget and International Programs Specialist responsible for negotiation of cooperative space projects with 10 countries. From 1987-88, worked for Committee on Science, Space and Technology, U.S House of Representatives, responsible for preparing Subcommittee Chairman and Members of Congress for oversight hearings on key international science and technology issues and drafting legislation.
From 1980-83, served as a Presidential Management Intern, a Federal government executive program. Education includes Certificate in Management, Smith College Management Program; Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University, with a specialization in foreign policy analysis and international economics; and BA in Political Science and Russian from Tufts University, Summa Cum Laude. |
