Extended Museum Hours
for the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History
The museum is open every day of the year except December 25. Regular hours are 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
The Museum will extend its hours until 7:30 PM on certain dates. These dates are recorded in the calendar below.
During the extended hours the following restaurants will also extend their hours:
- The Atrium Café will stay open until 5 PM.
- The Fossil Café will stay open until 7 PM.
- Café Natural will stay open until 7 PM.
The Museum Stores will also be extending their hours to 7:30 PM.
During Museum extended hours, the Butterfly Pavilion will remain open until 6:30 p.m. with last ticket being sold at 6:00 p.m. but only during the following dates:
- Every day from Saturday, March 31, 2012 through Saturday, April 14, 2012.
- Every day from Friday, May 26, 2012 to Sunday, September 3, 2012.
Note: When extended hours have been marked as CANCELED, we will be closing at our regular time of 5:30 PM due to a special event. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
